Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 (negotiable dependant on experience)
Looking for a new challenge? Want to be part of a highly skilled team of web designers in a fast paced office environment? Starkwood Media Group Ltd; an award winning Automotive Web Design Company based in Surrey, are looking for a highly motivated Web Designer to join their existing team. The successful candidates daily duties will include producing website visuals from design briefs using Photoshop, some liaising with clients although the customer account managers will do most of this, building websites (with Search Engine friendly, fully valid HTML & CSS) from scratch based on the artwork/visuals produced using Dreamweaver, as well as producing logo’s and branding for our clients.
No back-end development skills are required for this role as we have a dedicated team of developers that produce all of the dynamic content for the design team to drop into our customer websites, although some exposure to ASP and ASP.Net is advantageous. Front-end development skills are seen as advantageous as we use a lot of JQuery on our websites.
Candidates will have a proven track record in Web Design and will be expected to provide a portfolio of work which they have been fully responsible for. They will be able to demonstrate their creative flair, and ability to produce fully valid and cross browser compatible HTML and CSS.
Web Designer - Required Skills:
- HTML and CSS - ability to hand code and work to web standards (HTML4 Strict & CSS2.1)
- Adobe Creative Suite. Minimum requirements – Photoshop and Dreamweaver
- Strong graphic design skills
- Basic understanding of SEO
- Solid understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and how to resolve them
- Ability to work to tight deadlines & manage multiple projects/customers simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills and confident telephone manner
- Ability to work as part of a team
Web Designer - Desirable Skills:
- Experience using JQuery, or other front end development technologies
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator advantageous
- Some exposure to ASP & ASP.Net is advantageous
- Some exposure to HTML5 & CSS3 is advantageous
The successful candidates will have:
2 years commercial experience designing and building websites

A related degree with excellent portfolio
